Son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woods. Killed in action in Germany on April 16, 1945. Entered service in the Illinois National Guard on October 2, 1940. In January 1941, was sent to Camp Livingston, Lousisiana then to Camp Claiborne, Leeville, Lousisiana. Sent overseas in January and landed in February 1944. Participated in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, and Germany. Rank: Corporal. Burial is in U.S. Military Cemetery, Bensheim, Germany.
