Son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Dorwart. Entered service August 11, 1944. Received basic training at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. Was sent to Fort Meade, Maryland January 1, 1945. Was sent overseas January 29, on Queen Elizabeth, arriving February 7. Crossed English Channel the 8th. Went into Battle on the 11th of February and continued until the war with Germany ended May 8, 1945. Arrived in U.S. From Germany, July 14, 1945. Stationed at Camp Butner, North Carolina and Fort Bening, Georgia. Authorized: The American Service Medal, The European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with 2 bronze Stars, The World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal. Awarded: The Good Conduct Medal and The Combat Infantry-man Badge. Served in Continental U.S. and European Theatre. Discharged May 17, 1946 at Fort Mc Pherson, GA. As Sergeant.
