Son of Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Elliott. Enlisted at Peoria, Illinois March 3, 1942. Sent to Scott Field, Illinois. Received basic training at Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming. During basic training, was made acting Corporal and selected with eleven other trainers for Officer's school. Attended the Administration and Personnel school while in basic training. Upon completion of basic training, was assigned to 2nd QTR and given full rating of Corporal with duties as D rill Corporal. Took sick shortly afterwards and upon return from the hospital, was made Company Clerk. Held the Clerk's position for over one year but did not recover from illness sufficiently to pass the physical examination for Officer's Candidate School. Transferred Regimental Headquarters and assigned duties as Stock Record Clerk in Regimental Supply Office. Discharged on July 10, 1943 by reason of Certificate of Disability Discharged as Corporal.
