Son of Mr. and Mrs. George Mc Clain, Franklin, Illinois. Entered Air Corp. Ground Forces in February, 1943. Passed examination for Cadet training in August 1943, and took preliminary work in Western Kentucky State Teacher's College, Bowling Green, Kentucky. Classified as bombardier on completion of schooling and was sent to Montgomery, Alabama for further training. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in September 1944 at Deming, New Mexico. Flew as bombardier on 3-17's at Dyersburg, Tennessee with 2nd and 3rd Air Forces. Discharged October, 1945 from Truax Field, Madison, Wisconsin as Second Lieutenant.
