Son of Mrs. Bert McCracken. Born August 13, 1922. Entered service June 18, 1940. Received his training at Fort McCellan, Alabama; Camp Beauregard, Louisiana; Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Dix, New Jersey; Camp Johnston, Florida; Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Sailed for England January 1943. Was in a battle of Normandy and Hurtgen Forest. This division, Company 22 Infantry 4th, was first to land in Paris and first on German soil. Rank: Corporal. Was wounded in Luxembourg, Germany December 2, 1944 and died December 3, 1944. Buried in U.S. Military Cemetery in Belgium.
