Entered service March 15, 1943 from Springfield, Illinois. Went to Scott Field, Illinois for a short time, then to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Took A.S.T.P. training at University of Nebraska, at Lincoln, Nebraska. Was at Camp in Alabama for a short time. Then at Fort Smith, Arkansas and Camp Greuber, Oklahoma. From there to New York and went overseas in January 1945. Was in Southern Germany during the last few months of the war. Helped liberate the prisoners from Dachau Prison Camp and was stationed at Munich at theclose of hostilities. Returned to the States September 14, 1945. Discharged January 19, 1946 from Camp Grant, Illinois. Rank: Private First Class.
