Son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Pitman. Entered service October 9, 1942 at Scott Field, Illinois. Received training at Camp Campbell, Kentucky, Nashville. Tennessee; Camp Barkley, Texas. Overseas August 1944, landing in England. France, and Germany with Infantry. Returned to U.S. May 1945. Sent to Battle Creek, Michigan where he received discharge at Percy General Hospital as Staff Sergeant.
