Lester W. Points
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Points. Enlisted in Illinois with National Guard on September 23, 1940. National Guard was activated on November 25, 1940. He was sent to Camp Livingston. Louisiana on January 2, 1941. In March of 1942 his transfer to Pilot Training was approved and on September 7, 1942 he left Camp Livingston to begin Pre-flight training at San Antonio, Texas. While to Pre-flight Training, he received a Knights of Pythias Medal-A recognition all Knights in service received. His happened to be the first issued in the state of Illinois. After completion of Pre-flight training, he was sent to Muskogee, Oklahoma for Primary Training. In January 1943. he was sent to Garden City, Kansas where he remained until December 1944 at which time he was sent to Independence, Kansas. In March 1945, he was transferred to Lubbock, Texas and in June was transferred to Sheppard Field, Texas. Discharged Nov. 9, 1945 as Sergeant.
