Son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert O. Slavens. Enlisted in the Navy February 14, 1945 and was called to Active Duty April 6, 1945. Served eighteen months in the service and one year of this was overseas on Guam, Okinawa, and Pearl Harbor aboard the Ship U.S.S. Alioth. Discharged August 1, 1946 from Great Lakes, Illinois as Fireman First Class.
