Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Stewart. Enlisted in Navy November 23, 1943. Received training at Great Lake, NTC, Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois; Diesel School, Camp Bradford, Virginia. Assigned to USS LST 719, August 24, 1944. Went overseas October 1, 1944 to South Pacific. Earned one Bronze Star in Philippine Liberation and one Star Asiatic Pacific. Returned to U.S. May 19. 1946. Left LST 719, May 22, 1946. Discharged June 3, 1946 at Great Lakes, Illinois as Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class. Served thirty months.
