Earl W. (chesty) Turner
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Turner. Born October 2, 1923. Enlisted in the Illinois National Guard on September 27, 1940. Spent some time in Panama Canal, Sent overseas September 4, 1944 with General Hedges First Army. Was lost in Belgium December 17 and reported missing. Taken prisoner by the Germans. Was liberated on May 11, 1945. Discharged at Fort Sheridan October 1945 as Staff Sergeant. Re-enlisted and is at Leghour, Italy.
