Son of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Deatherage. Entered the Army at Peoria, Illinois on January 17. 1941. Received training at Fort Winfield Scott, California. Was in harbor defense of San Francisco for three years. Transferred to Field Artillery. Served in Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas. Went overseas in March of 1945. Served in European Theatre, six months. Returned to U.S. in October 1945. Discharged October 29. 1945 from Camp Hood, Texas as Technician Fifth Grade.
