Son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Tannahill. Entered service at Great Lakes, Illinois. USS Savana which was bombed September 11, 1943, at Salerno, Italy. Was on USS Guin, a Mine Sweeper; his ship being one of those taking part in Bombardment of Iwo Jima before invasion. Also other engagements at Eniwetok and Saipan. He was among the first to enter Tokyo Bay. Re-enlisted for two years. USS New Jersey Battleship at Bremerton, Washington. Still in service. Rank: Chief M.M.
