Son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Y. Gibson. Entered service September 15, 1939 at Peoria, Illinois. Received his training at Fort Sheridan in Coast Artillery, later being sent to Fort Bening, Georgia where he was transferred to parachute troop Infantry. Was in Panama Canal Zone for fourteen months being sent to Australia. Was in New Guinea Campaign. Was with 503rd Parachute Infantry. Returned to states July 29, 1944. Was one of the first 49 men enlisted to join parachute troops in U.S. Discharged December 18, 1944, having served five years, three months and four days. Rank: Corporal.
