Son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Allyn. Born October 16, 1913. Entered service February 2, 1942 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts as First Lieutenant in Medical Corps. Assigned to 2nd Evacuation Hospital, a 750 bed affiliated unit composed of doctors and nurses from St. Luke's Hospital, New York City. Entire Army service was spent in this hospital unit and in the specialty of internal medicine. Trained at Fort Devens, Massachusetts and Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Sailed for overseas September 5, 1942 for Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France (Normandy) Belgium, and Germany. Participated in the Campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Germany. Total overseas service was three years and three weeks. Total army service was three years and eleven and one half months. Discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey on January 7, 1946 as Captain.
