Son of Mrs. Pearlie Bottom. Entered service August 5, 1940 in Navy at Great Lakes, Illinois. Pearl Harbor. Was on USS Helena which was destroyed by Japanese on July 1943, was rescued and returned to States, Long Beach, California, where he became an Instructor in Gunnery. Attended Gunnery School at Washington D.C., Glouchester, New Jersey. Assigned to USS Wilkinara, Pennsylvania Tokyo. Discharged August 5, 1946 at Shoemaker, California as Turret Captain.
