Son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Brown. Entered service February 24, 1943 and was placed in the 101st Field Artillery Battalion 26th Infantry Division as a surveyor. Received training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Camp Gordon, Georgia. Sailed for France in September 1944, and fought in France, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. Earned Bronze Star Medal and 4 Battle Stars. Returned to U.S. December 25, 1945. Discharged Jan. 2, 1946 from Camp Grant, Ill as Corporal.
