Son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Brown. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy July 28, 1944. Completing boot training at Great Lakes, Chicago, Illinois, in October, 1944. Left California for overseas duty on December 24, 1944 being placed on U.S.S. LST 648 of the Amphibious Corps. Took part in the first landing at Iwo Jima in February 1945 and later Okinawa. Was with the fleet that made the first landings at Tokyo Bay for that surrender of Japan August 30, 1945. Was stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base until February 1944 when he was given a 54 day leave to come home after which he was sent to Kodiak, Alaska, and is now on the USS Chervaucan, expecting to be discharged in 1948.
