Son of Mr. and Mrs. Oren C. Browne. Entered service February 3, 1943. at Peoria Illinois. Was sent to Scott Field, Illinois; transferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, February 12, 1943; received basic training and was sent to Raritan Arsenal, New Jersey, put into an Ammunition Company. Received training in New Jersey and was sent overseas July 27, 1943. Arrived in England August 2, 1943, received training there until the invasion of Normandy. After reaching France, was transferred to the 116 Infantry Regiment, 9th Army. After reaching Belgium was sent back to a rest camp for a two weeks rest and then transferred to the 295 Engineers Combat Battalion until the end of war. Discharged December 2, 1945 from Camp Grant, Illinois.
