Son of Mrs. Gertie Deatherage. Entered service June 5, 1942 with U.S. Army, Scott Field, Illinois, June 8 1942; was sent to Camp Grant, Illinois, June 20, 1942; to Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, August 14, 1942; to San Francisco, California, October 27, 1942. Left November 3, 1943 for South Pacific. Landed in New Caledonia November 21, 1943. For an extended period was a Medical Technician in the 29th General Hospital. Later going to Okinawa, September 1945 which took 60 days, ran into one typhoon, was there a short time, then moved on to Korea about October 3, 1945. Received Good Conduct Medal. Returned to U.S. December 17, 1945, Fort Lewis, Wash. Discharged January 4, 1946 from Jefferson Barracks, Missouri as Technician Fourth Grade.
