This is a memorial site for all of the men and women that served
in the military during World War II. The title of this site refers to the twenty four young men
from Waverly, Illinois (listed below as the gold star boys) that lost their lives in World War
II.
Although we remember the boys from Waverly earnestly, there were a
total of 405,399 American casualties in World War II. Anyone with pictures, letters, or stories
about those who served is encouraged to contribute them to this site.
Two men who are buried at Henri Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium are Pvt.
Russell Turner and Corporal Albert McCracken, both from Waverly, Illinois. They are among 7,989
U.S. military who are buried there.
